A CGTP-IN enviou ao movimento sindical internacional uma nota informativa, abaixo transcrita, sobre a manifestação realizada no passado dia 19 de Março.

TRABALHADORES PORTUGUESES DIZEM NÃO AO RETROCESSO SOCIAL E ECONÓMICO E EXIGEM UMA MUDANÇA DE POLÍTICAS

No passado sábado, 19 de Março, a CGTP-IN organizou uma enorme manifestação nacional, assinalando um dia de indignação e protesto contra as chamadas medidas de austeridade (o governo português acabou de aprovar um 4.º pacote), o desemprego, os cortes nos salários e pensões, mais um aumento de impostos e a tentativa de rever as leis laborais para pior, a vida cara e as injustiças, e por uma mudança de políticas.  
Na maior acção após a greve geral de 24 de Novembro, milhares de trabalhadores desfilaram pelo centro de Lisboa em protesto contra os diversos planos implementados pelo governo português, por imposição da Comissão e dos países poderosos da UE, que enfraquecem os direitos e a protecção dos trabalhadores e reformados, impondo um retrocesso social e económico.
No final da manifestação, organizada pela CGTP-IN, os manifestantes aprovaram uma resolução, em que decidem:

  1. Reforçar  a unidade na acção, visando melhorar as suas condições de vida e de trabalho;
  2. Empenhar-se na luta contra essas medidas e as políticas de direita no seu todo, por políticas alternativas coerentes e positivas que respondam efectivamente às necessidades e anseios dos trabalhadores e promovam o desenvolvimento económico e social do país;  
  3. Incentivar e apoiar as lutas dos trabalhadores;
  4. Participar activamente nas acções que se seguem, nomeadamente na manifestação dos jovens, a realizar no dia 1 de Abril, nas comemorações do 25 de Abril e no 1.º de Maio – a nível nacional – e na concentração de Budapeste, no dia 9 de Abril.

PORTUGUESE WORKERS SAY NO TO SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC REGRESSION AND DEMAND A CHANGE OF POLICIES

Last Saturday, March 19th, the CGTP-IN organised a huge national demonstration, marking a day of indignation and protest against the so-called austerity measures (a 4th package has just been approved by the Portuguese government), unemployment, cuts on wages and pensions, new increase on taxes and the attempt to (once more) revise labour laws to the worst, high cost of living and injustices, and for a change of policies.
On the biggest action after the 24 November general strike, thousands of workers marched through the centre of Lisbon in protest against the several plans implemented by the Portuguese government, under the impositions of the Commission and the powerful countries in the EU, which undermine workers and pensioners’ rights and protection, imposing social and economic regression.
At the end of the demonstration, held by the CGTP-IN, the protesters adopted a resolution, in which they decided to:

  1. Reinforce unity in action, aiming at improving their living and working conditions;
  2. Commit themselves to fighting against those measures and the right-wing policies on the whole, for coherent and positive alternative policies that truly meet the workers’ needs and aspirations and promote the country’s economic and social development;
  3. Foster and support workers’ struggles;
  4. Actively participate in subsequent days of action, namely in the Youth demonstration to be held on 1st April, in the 25th April celebrations and May Day - at national level - and in the Budapest rally on 9th    April.
